What is ASSIGN?

ASSIGN is traffic assignment functionality for the SIDRA INTERSECTION NETWORK Model. Traffic assignment is the determination of the routes taken by road users from a given Origin Zone and Destination Zone. In the process of route selection, traffic interacts with traffic from other origins and destinations as they aim to use routes that would minimise their travel time or cost. Traffic assignment uses trip demand by Origin-Destination (O-D) to estimate movement volumes, given the Network and Site configurations. ASSIGN applies movement travel times determined by the SIDRA Network Model. ASSIGN is useful when assessing the impacts of traffic management schemes that could result in changes in routes of traffic.
